Since the constant battering of wind, rain, and moving, shifting sand (no soil here only sand) houses move and tilt and crumble a lot after some years. This house looked so sad to me when I started drawing it several months ago--as though it had been forgotten in time. After this past winter's horrible storms, it all but fell over. Here is how I picture it looking in its better days, with everybody around it enjoying a sunny day in Long Beach, WA.

Watercolor pulls at me now and again and this horse needed to be painted. He just got done with his bath and he's being led back to the hot walker. He is a working trotter and maybe his long torso and configuration give him away as a Tennessee Walker. Watercolor measures 11" X 14" on Arches cold press paper.

Golden Aspens
Aspen trees in the northwest thick forest are remarkable. They contrast their lightness with the dark of the woods and the blush of gold of afternoon sun. Ferns and undergrowth are in the foreground and the dark background provide lots of color and texture. Original watercolor that measures 15"x22" on Fabriano Uno 140# paper.

Cathlamet Landscape
The town of Cathlamet in southwest Washington has a docking spot where people keep their fishing boats and sailboats. In the distance is the bridge that goes to Puget Island on the Columbia River--a little paradise where small farms and organic produce are grown. This was painted plein air style from the hilltop on route 4. A half sheet watercolor. Click image to see enlargement.

Horses Blue Sun Corral
Picture a world where things seem quite normal except for a few important changes. Horses looking for a tidbit or just curious follow our cowboy as he brings them home to the corral by the lead horse. The sun is as blue as the sky and it's grown while he wasn't looking. Here's a twist that's fun and a little dreamy for your watercolor collecton. Watercolor painting measures 11" x 14" on Fabriano Uno watercolor paper.

3 Horse and Blue Moon
I'm back to working with horses again and here is a little twist on the surrounding atmosphere of these playful horses. Three orses with 3 blazes on their faces gallop towards me. The background is slightly surrealistic with a violet sky and a huge blue moon. Intense color and texture define this original watercolor. Measures 11" x 14". click image to see enlargement

Rooster Bordello
Since the beginning of the new year, this rooster has been preening and preparing to look as gorgeous as he possibly can. He's fluffed his feathers, taken a tiny bath in the pond, eaten some blueberries in an attempt to make his blue feathers bluer. He's learned a few new tunes and tried them out on the rest of the world every morning. He's getting ready to head over to the red light district for a virtual romp in the hay. He's looking for love. Do you think he's headed in the right direction? click image to see enlargement
